Freckles on my Ancestor’s Face is a full-length collaborative hip-hop album between Nasim Patel and Naarm-based producer Tom Benter.
It will mark the second collaboration between the two, after BARS MADE FLESH, published by ACCA in 2022.
The album explores Nasim’s familial histories with a speculative lens, tracking the diasporic paths of his family between South Africa, India, England, and Australia and imagining how his bloodlines navigate the future through hypothetical geo-conflicts and biodegradation. It identifies the cultural technologies that facilitate connections to family, like religion, colonisation, and globalism, while also exploring how these contradictorily function as ancestral disruptions.
The project is in its final stages of development and will be releasing in early 2026.
